Tradespeople who have taken plumbing training courses should always be consulted before installing a wet room in a home, an expert has suggested.

Wet rooms are bathrooms that do not contain cubicles or screens and instead consist of waterproof surfaces and a sloping floor where water can be drained.

According to Concept Interiors, these have become increasingly popular among Britons in recent years.

The company explained that this could well be because they are starting to add more saleability and value to homes, meaning they are appealing to both property buyers and sellers alike.

However, the firm's head of design Samantha Morgan commented that there are a number of rules that people must follow when installing a wet room, which include employing a worker who has gained approved plumbing qualifications.

"Ensure that you employ the services of an experienced tradesman and professional designer to help create your perfect wet room," she said.
