During the pandemic many careers have been struggling and people are experience lower pay and endless furlough schemes. Yet in the world of plumbing and other technical trades people have found their opportunities for work, pay and progression as steady as always. Although the earnings of self-employed plumbers fell last month, this was in-line with the traditionally slow start to the year, overall the income for plumbers hasn't budged and in some cases has risen with new opportunities as people spend more time at home, they more often require the services of plumbers, not to mention the commercial, industrial and numerous other roles out there for people with the right skills.

So, how much are they making?

On average during the first month of the year plumbers made around £940 a week! Only a small drop from December. This figure is set to rise and by the end of this month should be around £1,000. There are widespread reports of full order books, with plumbers seeing increased volume in jobs out there. Although much of life has slowed down or even come to a standstill, we all require the skills of tradesmen and women, especially as we are spending more time at home, only benefiting those with the skills to carry out the tasks we need. In fact, plumbers were officially the most in demand trade in 2020!
