Plumbing courses at a social distance!

At Able Skills, we are happy to be back providing training students on a weekly basis giving students an opportunity to develop their skills and work towards starting a new career. However, it is important that we come out of the lockdown as safely as possible which is why we are following the governments advice and putting in place social distancing measures. Measures such as PPE being used throughout the centre, reduced numbers of students, separated workstations, separate equipment, increased cleaning and hand sanitation stations. Let's take a look at the plumbing courses available at a social distance...

Where do I start?

No experience? If you have no experience at all in the world of plumbing then you may want to first gain an understanding of the absolute basics. This can be achieved through our Introduction to Plumbing course - This 5-day course will not only help you get to grips with the fundamentals but will give you an overview of how the industry works and what the daily tasks of a plumber actually. Additionally, at the end of this introductory course, you'll receive a City & Guilds Qualification stating that you are competent with the basics of plumbing.

Some experience? If you have some experience in the world of plumbing or you have completed the above course then you'll want to jump into our City & Guilds Level 2 Plumbing course - This is a 6-week course that will teach you to become a plumber from start to finish. You will gain a theoretical understanding of what goes into common plumbing processes, cold water systems, domestic hot water systems, sanitation and learn practical, hands-on skills that plumbers need on a daily occurrence. This course is taught by instructors who have spent years and years on the job themselves, making mistakes and figuring out ways to correct them.

Now that you have the qualifications behind you and you've begun working, you'll eventually want to achieve an NVQ! Able Skills has Assessors in place who can visit you at your place of work to establish your competence, give guidance on portfolio completion and help you on your way to achieving a Plumbing NVQ. A National Vocation Qualification will be your gateway to the construction site, on-site jobs and more highly paid opportunities within the industry. This isn’t a training course; it is an assessment process which takes place wherever you are undertaking plumbing work facilitated by us.
