More people may be considering plumbing courses in Slough as the local authority has moved closer to securing the development of a new cultural centre.
Slough Borough Council has delivered a compulsory purchase order to owners of land around the Prudential buildings in the Berkshire town, which it hopes to redevelop into The Curve, the Slough Observer reports.
The Curve will form part of the proposed Heart of Slough project to be undertaken by the council, providing a new learning and arts space for residents.
John Rice, interim assistant director of property and regeneration at the local authority, told the newspaper: "Significant resources are being invested in the Heart of Slough project and we are not prepared to jeopardise that investment in the town."
