A Scottish government minister has highlighted the abundant natural resources that the country boasts, with this privileged situation potentially inspiring more people to sign up for renewable energy courses.

Roseanna Cunningham, the recently installed climate change minister, claimed the next ten years will be "decisive" with regards to how quickly Scotland can begin producing and using significant amounts of sustainable power.

Current statistics bode well for technicians who have completed renewable energy courses, since a report released this week showed 27 per cent of the nation's electricity came from either wind, hydro or green power plants in the third quarter of the year.

"Scotland is blessed with abundant natural energy sources, particularly in our seas, and the figures follow a steady trend towards Scotland's energy becoming greener," noted Ms Cunningham.

Statistics published by the UK's Department for Energy and Climate Change indicated wind power output increased by 36.9 per cent during the third quarter of 2010 across the whole country.
