It was only four weeks ago at this year's Ecobuild show in London, that Solar PV technology was being showcased, and looked poised to now really take off in the UK, with the April launch of the government's Clean Energy Cashback Scheme. Installing this alternative form of clean renewable energy will enable owners of PV systems to be paid a guaranteed rate for the energy they generate. Now Sharp, one of Britain's largest manufacturers of PV solar panels, predicts a tenfold rise in demand over the next two years as a result of the government's unveiling of the Feed-In Tariff or Clean Energy Cash Back scheme. This provides for a new system of loans that will enable thousands of homeowners to buy solar panels and other green products such as insulation and mini wind turbines.According to Sharp, the scheme will boost the number of homes with solar panels from the currently installed 28,000 to around 250,000 by the end of 2011. They are confident that by 2014 there will be about 400,000 homes with solar panels and they believe it will create 30,000 jobs over that period. Figures from the Department of Energy and Climate Change show that more than 800,000 homes could have solar panels over the next 25 years. From April 1 2010, families are able to borrow from electricity providers at a preferential rate. It is estimated that it will take less than 10 years to repay the loan and a homeowner could bank ?
