An environmental expert has predicted that the popularity of solar water heating could be set to rise, which could inspire more technicians to take plumbing courses.

Renewable Energy UK representative Neil McNiven claimed that this sustainable energy generation technique could compete with fossil fuels in terms of price.

In his view, the use of solar water heating is likely to become far more commonplace in the future, which may lead to greater demand for plumbing courses from engineers keen to know more about such processes.

However, Mr McNiven suggested it is not the only sustainable energy source growing in popularity, explaining: "Offshore wind turbines are the big thing for the UK, with wave and tidal power still five to ten years at least away from being used in such large scales."

This week, BritishEco.com spokesperson Matt Hunt declared that Brits are not bored of environmental concerns and that various incentives are helping to maintain interest.
