Interest in PV courses in Swindon could be set to spike after it was announced that 20,000 solar panels will be installed on the outskirts of the Wiltshire town.

According to the Swindon Advertiser, the green power generators are set to be installed north of South Marston and a spokesperson for the land agents going through with the deal has defended the multi-million pound proposals.

Technicians who have completed PV courses could be hired to set up the devices, which Webbpaton partner George Paton claimed will look like dark glass from far away.

He told the publication: "These things are only 2.45 metres tall at the highest point. You won't be able to see them because the hedge will hide them completely."

Elsewhere, Wokingham Borough Council has urged two local schools to consider installing solar panels on the roofs of their buildings to help cut carbon emissions in the neighbourhood and potentially save money.
