The construction industry is a huge market. In fact, construction output in the UK is more than £110 billion a year and contributes 7% of the countries GDP. Like many industries the trades have been affected by the pandemic. However, one big sign of recovery is companies beginning to hire new staff once again. In fact, many self-employed tradespeople are seeing more demand than ever before!

Is this good news?

This is really great news for the industry as it shows that construction businesses are optimistic for the future and confident enough financially to take on new employees. The new data comes from ONS the Office for National Statistics.

This does not just mean opportunities for those looking to work for constriction companies. The amount of people working on a self-employed basis is also on the rise! One issue is that there is a skills gap, simply there are not enough skilled people out there to take up these positions...

Here at Able Skills we are constant doing our part, training new recruits. Helping our students to learn new skills and gain the qualifications they need to enter the industry with confident. And you should join them! With huge rises in earnings there has never been a better time to start a career in construction.

Is there opportunities for new tradespeople?

In need of a construction NVQ?

An NVQ or National Vocational Qualification is a test of competency in the world of construction and acts as a seal of approval. NVQs are ‘Declarations of Competence’ and as such, cannot be achieved in a simulated environment like a training centre. Instead they are conducted on-site. We have Able Skills assessors in place to visit your place of work on two occasions to carry out the assessment!

CSCS cards can be achieved through completing an NVQ assessment. They provide proof that individuals working on construction sites have the appropriate training and qualifications for the job they do on site.
