UK to get rare, European-style build-to-rent housing scheme

A German developer has bought a 20-acre site in Manchester, UK and plans to build 500 apartments to rent.
Yet another large scale construction in the UK, the opportunities are endless for construction workers as of late! There is still a lack of skilled workers in the industry, yet there is no shortage of schemes similar to this meaning that employees wages are constantly on the increase.
This particular scheme is a rarity in the UK, where the private rental market is dominated by small-scale buy-to-let landlords, despite government attempts to stimulate a private build-to-rent sector of the sort more common in Europe.

No. 1 First Street Construction
The site is partially developed with a 180,000-sq-ft office building, known as “No. 1 First Street”. There is capacity for up to a million sq ft more of office space and approximately 500 new apartments, which the company intends to build and rent out privately.
UK government has created a £1bn equity Build to Rent fund to get purpose-built rental developments across the UK off the ground. This is in an effort to reach their goal of 300,000 homes built in a year! An ambitious target considering the political state the country is in.

"I must say, I’ve done different training courses before and not completed them because of the way I was taught. It’s not like that with John and Tony. They taught you as well as making your time enjoyable. They don’t talk down to you and they treat everyone the same. One of the main reasons I finished the course was because of John. He was a mate as much as a teacher which made it better to learn."
Overall Rating – Excellent

“Really well presented by the teachers, they took the time to explain how to go about setting up & were always there to give advice and help. It was a friendly and relaxed environment but structured and meant that I felt at ease while training here. A place to have a laugh but also get some serious knowledge, I think I progressed greatly since being here.”
Overall Rating – Excellent
