How much do Gas Engineers earn?

When looking into a new career an obvious question is how much can I earn? However, the answer is not straightforward as there are so many different routes and options to take within the industry. Starting out in a career as a Gas Engineer you can expect a starting salary of £32,000 and can easily earn a £1,000 a week depending on the amount of hours you are working but again, engineers can make even more money and branch out into related career options. Experienced and skilled Gas Engineers can double their salary to £60,000. Of course, if you run your own business, a serious reality for many in the trade, these figures could significantly increase.

Job diversity:

As mentioned there are so many different avenues to take advantage of in this trade. The diversity of being a Gas Engineer means you can be involved in a huge range of projects, from simple domestic jobs to huge commercial projects depending on your training and personal ability. So, there's industrial options, commercial and domestic within the trade but in addition there is the option to focus on a niche...

When you look to become Gas Safe Registered (A legal requirement for anybody working in the trade) you will need to complete safety tasks for specific appliances. If you are interested in working on specific types of gas appliance, you should be focused on getting the relevant training and certification for them - For example you could build a business that solely focuses on boiler installations. As a gas engineer, you’ll be free to choose which direction your career goes – and what appliances you want to work on – through your training.

How do I get started?

Currently, in accordance with the governments advice we cannot conduct in centre Gas training courses. However we will be back as soon as possible with an increased capacity. We offer training options specifically designed for new entrants to the industry that cover a wide range of topics over a 7-week period and include all the steps you need to take in order to be successful when it comes to Gas Safe Registration!

These new entrants specific packages are very comprehensive and will prepare you for 'Gas Safe Registration' which is the legal requirement for Gas Engineers before they begin working out in the industry. The New entrant package 2 includes 7-weeks of hands-on training, portfolio completion and an ACS examination. The New entrant Gas training package 3 adds onto this training by giving you a closer look at Boiler fault finding course to increase your knowledge on this specific area of the trade.
