There could be positive news for engineers who have taken electrical courses thanks to the implementation of the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) Energy Efficiency Scheme.

Managing director of Threadneedle Don Jordison explained that the guidelines will offer property owners the information they need to refurbish buildings to make them more environmentally friendly.

This could be good news for engineers who have completed electrical courses, since such landlords will need qualified professionals to carry out the work.

"Owners have known the need for lower energy usage and occupiers too, but they have tended to be operating in isolation. They have had no benchmarks or standards," noted Mr Jordison.

But this situation looks set to change, since the CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme held a webinar this week explaining how the initiative will work.

Mr Jordison highlighted how the CRC is a regulation "with teeth" that will help both owners and occupiers to understand and deliver high environmental standards.
