An environmental expert has claimed skilled workers could find green energy jobs in Scotland, which suggests it could be a good destination for people taking an electrical course.

Chief executive of Friends of the Earth Scotland Duncan McLaren noted that the country is in a good position in the green energy sector.

This could mean that technicians who have completed an electrical course may find suitable work in the region.

He said: "Scotland's massive renewable energy prospects - with 25 per cent of all of Europe's potential for wind power - make it a natural location for new green energy businesses and jobs."

In his opinion, the government should try to carry out work on old buildings to make them more energy efficient, which would also require the expertise of engineers who know how to conduct such procedures.

Recently, Scotland's first minister Alex Salmond spoke at Aberdeen Asset Management's conference, saying that more investment in green projects is needed.
