Plastering NVQ Level 2 – Solid Plastering
If you are looking for a fast track route to gaining a Plastering NVQ, Able Skills can set you on your way.
We are in a position to provide you with 3 weeks of NVQ plastering training, combined with thorough guidance on how to move forward and achieve your NVQ.
During the 3 weeks we will cover the units which make up the NVQ level 2, both on the practical side as well as providing you with a detailed portfolio and candidate pack with full guidance on how to build the portfolio evidence. We will ensure that every candidate has a full understanding of how to achieve each NVQ unit.
We will provide as much training as we can with the emphasis being on reality and preparing you for the industry.
We will teach you from scratch and move you very quickly through the various stages of plastering covering everything from cutting and fixing plasterboard, application of fibre tape and knowledge of cutting and fixing angle beads through to skimming ceilings, patchwork, render, floor screeding and much more.
The staff delivering this fast track NVQ plastering training are all NVQ Assessors and you will be guided by the same staff members once you are working in the industry. You will also have access to our Plastering forum for any questions you may have or advice you may need.
As you gather your working evidence you will have the option to send it electronically to your designated NVQ Assessor to enable him to track your progress and ensure that you are on track with any assessment plan you have agreed, from then, we can arrange your site assessments as and when you are ready.
On Site assessments (OSAT) is subject to funding which, subject to certain criteria, means that you can gain this level 2 qualification free of charge.
This 3 week course is best suited to those of you who are keen to enter the Plastering industry quite quickly although we can also offer 6 and 8 week plastering courses which cover the same NVQ units but in more depth and with a City & Guilds qualification.
To successfully achieve an NVQ, as well as proving competence in several areas of plastering (as listed in the units below), you must also demonstrate an understanding of general workplace safety and efficient working practices. To ensure that you have a detailed understanding of these requirements, we will provide you with extensive hand outs, class room tuition and also demonstrate how to erect and dismantle working platforms.

- VR03- Move and handle resources
- VR66- Produce Internal Solid plastering Finishes
- VR67- Produce External Solid Render Finishes
Optional Units
- VR65- Apply finishing plaster to background surfaces
- VR68- Install Direct Bond Dry Lining (dot and dab)
- VR69- Lay Sand and cement Screeds
- VR70- Apply Projection Plaster and maintain equipment
- VR71- Install (mechanically fixed) Plasterboard
We recommend that you shop around for the right course for you and if you can, visit the Training Providers you have short listed. You should obtain proof of Centre approvals and ensure that the Centre can deliver what they promise in their advertising material.
