2 Week City & Guilds Plumbing Accreditation

As an accredited City & Guilds approved training centre, Able Skills is in a position to offer a variety of training and assessment courses in order to achieve plumbing qualifications.

We are aware that not everyone is in a position to dedicate long periods of time to training and so we have developed smaller, more affordable training programmes which can still provide successful candidates with City & Guilds certification.

City & Guilds 6218

This particular 2 week course will give individuals the opportunity to receive comprehensive plumbing training and undertake an assessment process to achieve 5 accredited units taken from City & Guilds 6218 Construction Diploma.

The City & Guilds certificate and portfolio obtained at the end of this training course will enhance your skills and is very useful if you are already working in a role which may require you from time to time to undertake plumbing repairs or similar.

Progression

Once this course has been completed successfully, there are opportunities for progression. If you have enjoyed the course and you feel that Plumbing is the career for you, you can consider upgrading to a full City & Guilds 6189 level 2 Plumbing Diploma or as stated before, entry onto a gas training programme.

Alternatively, if you are happy for plumbing to be just one of your jobs and want to learn others, you can choose from various other construction skills in order to achieve a full City & Guilds Construction Diploma.

During this 10 day accredited plumbing course you will receive training, be assessed and will be building a portfolio of photographic evidence, which is yours to keep and present to potential employers or customers.

The Plumbing training you will receive will cover the following:

• Health & Safety and PPE
• Plumbing systems and fittings
• Soldering techniques
• Jointing, bending and pressure testing copper tube
• Plumbing pipe work
• Copper pipe work skills
• Valves, taps, cisterns, and cylinders
• Plastic Tube installation
• Bathroom installation
• Soil and waste pipes

During this training you will be assessed on all of the following 5 units. All 5 assessments must be completed in order to obtain this plumbing unit accreditation

• Introducing rain water goods
• Introducing pipework skills
• Developing Pipework Skills
• Developing Skills in Fitted Interiors
• Expanding Pipework Skills

We will also explain and demonstrate all the different plumbing materials used. Plumbing Tools and equipment will be fully supplied, explained and demonstrated

These units come from the City & Guilds Construction Diploma: 6218

The other subjects you can consider to gain the full award are:

• Plastering
• Painting & Decorating
• Carpentry
• Bricklaying

I found Able Skills through Google. I did consider another training provider, but was put off due to their pushy sales team. Able Skills were very friendly and informative on the phone, they were happy for me to make my mind up, whereas the other company hassled me for money. Important factors for me to consider when choosing the right facility was location, price and the ability to add Part P electrics to the end of my course. The course was value for money and met with all my expectations. The facilities here are very good and it’s nice to have your own bay to work in. There’s a lot of kit to play with which is far better than just reading in a book. The course was very informative and Jim is an excellent Tutor. He takes the time to show you how to do something and explain things in layman’s terms. He is excellent at getting the information across and making sense of the book, without Jims explanation the book is a quick reference tool. I’m sure all the other course tutors are just as good but I am very pleased that Jim taught me. He is a wealth of knowledge and easy to talk to. I can’t fault the way Able Skills operates as it seems to run excellently. The course is very good and the classroom time is just enough. I will definitely consider using Able Skills again in the future for other trades I feel would benefit myself. I would not hesitate to recommend Able Skills and Jim to anyone else tahts looking to start up in plumbing.
