We teach high-quality Gas Engineer courses to hundreds of people a year! Here at Able skills we have been training people looking to enter the trade industry for 20-years. If you are looking to complete your ACS assessment or an ACS Reassessment we can assess both your practical skills and theory knowledge and help you on your way to Gas Safe Registration.

Gas Safety is very important. We take it very seriously at our centre. Here in the UK, the public is kept safe through the Gas Safe Register. The Gas Safe Register is a list of businesses that are legally permitted to carry out gas work under the trading name that they have registered with. Every one who wants to work with gas appliances of any kind need to be registered by law.

What is an ACS Assessment?

The Accredited Certification Scheme (ACS) is the industry recognised and accepted route for experienced gas operatives to gain the certificate of competence needed to become a member of the Gas Safe Register. The assessment is made up of different tests specific to certain types of appliances such as domestic cookers and incudes a core gas safety test.

How do our courses work?

At our centre we offer a complete range of Gas Engineer courses including ACS Assessments. To start you will need your National Insurance number and 2 recent colour photographs. The assessments are then based on which appliances you have evidence of with your portfolio. For example if you can show that you've worked on central heating boilers along side a registered engineer then you can take on the CENWAT test and so on.

Your ACS Assessments will always include CCN1, the core gas safety element which is compulsory and must be achieved before any further assessment can be undertaken. This will take up to 5-days to complete and will include some refresher information and a mix of testing both your theory and practical skills through online tests, written tests and hands on tasks within our workshops.

CCN 1/CPA1:Core Gas SafetyUp to 5 Days – Reassessment£450.00
CCN 1 + 4:Core Gas Safety & 4 Appliances (inc CPA1)Up to 5 Days – Reassessment£695.00

If candidates fail to achieve the required level of competency in either the practical or theory assessment, it may be necessary for them to re-sit the sections which they have failed. If this situation arises an additional cost may be incurred. Once completed you will be able to go and register with Gas Safe!
